Cool outdoor rug project

Monday, March 05, 2007

Holly over at decor8 posted last week about this cool project made of astro turf from Dutch magazine 101 Woonideeen. Forget those cutie-pie outdoor carpet squares from FLOR, this is a simple and clever solution for your outdoor area. I've got a particular cement patio in mind to try it out on come springtime.

What would you have to use to cut the astroturf? Standard scissors, box cutters, a woodchuck? I could see how that might beautify a concrete front yard.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure about a woodchuck as a cutting solution. I think the tool would depend on the quality of the astro turf you bought. You could definitely cut cheaper turf with an ordinary pair of sharp scissors. However, if you invested in the really pricey stuff (yes, there is expensive fake grass) you might need something more heavy-duty like an x-acto knife on a cutting mat. I am a big fan of Fiskars scissors and clippers for any serious cutting.
