DIY Toilet Paper Holder

Remodelista has a post about this toilet paper roll holder being sold by a company called Wire & Twine. They want $35 for it. Pretty funny, right? I've seen similar t.p. holders in bar and restaurant bathrooms all over New York. While I think selling one for $35 is nuts, I do think

As people that fall into the DIY category, we feel you.

As a company of three folks out in a small town of Ohio, it might seem like we should certainly be able to sell these very simple toilet paper holders for less money.

We spend lots of time to ensure our products are put together very well and shipped with attention to detail (in this case, mounting instructions, quality hardware, strong adhesives and sealed seams). There were quite a few prototypes to get just the right dimensions and heft. Folks who stop by the studio and farm comment on how sturdy and awesome they are.

There will always be a deficit in the cost of materials and a retail price. But I can say that similar hardware manufactured overseas and sold in big box stores would very easily cost more.

We do agree that it is a neat project for enterprising DIY types. For those that don't have the time, we like to think our version takes out the guesswork and provides quality with value.

Well, when you put it like that, it sounds like a downright bargain. I love small businesses and I wish you the best of luck with your Wire & Twine!
